Iâve been making arguments for months that Donald Trumpâs trade war with China is the height of stupidity. While Trump has the power to do what heâs been doing â sanctioning actors and applying tariffs â some power is best left not used.
The simple fact is that America is uncompetitive. This is at a deep and structural level. Itâs at an education level. And this is something Trumpâs trade team and his adherents refuse to admit.
When it comes to manufacturing and assembly, U.S. workers are not worth the money they are paid. Period.
The moral and constitutional obligations of our representatives in Washington are to protect our liberty, not coddle the world, precipitating no-win wars, while bringing bankruptcy and economic turmoil to our people.
Any excuse will serve a tyrant.
In war, truth is the first casualty.
