The movement of anarchy is as eternal as the strive of human beings to freedom, and as soon as first systems of power and oppression emerged so did the first anarchists. But it is also true that as of the 21st century one has to be wary when using the term "anarchist", because of the whole semantic baggage it accumulated over the years since it's been coined. A lot of people and movements that have absolutely nothing to do with liberty and freedom have called themselves anarchists, from the 1870-s terrorists and highwaymen all the way to modern "antifa" thugs and campus radicals that shut down lecturers they don't like. Hence the long and rather clumsy word "libertarian" appeared to define people who actually struggle for more liberty in all sides of life. But not all libertarians are anarchists, i.e. not all libertarians want to do away with government and state completely.
