@PurpCat @eidolon @Forestofenchantment @Inginsub @suquili Yeah. All the niche boards are basically gone now. including the other political boards that weren't about NatSoc politics (e.g. /liberty/ and /monarchy/), though the leftypol bunker seems to be going strong.

Though /v/ and /tech/ were the boards that I love to go on the most, so it isn't a huge loss for me.

@PurpCat @eidolon @Forestofenchantment @Inginsub @suquili And that is what attracts the fedposts. It makes no sense to fedpost on a board like /v/ unless you can come up with some credible threat to blow up a video game studio. But that's another advantage of imageboards (or at least forums in general). If you don't feel like talking about politics 24/7, there are other boards. Sure, political discussions will naturally bleed in, but it's not like here where your feed is 80% talking about the joos, advocating for TND, or talking about the latest distraction.

Which is quite a shame because a few years ago, the fedi seemed a lot more laid-back and open minded compared to other "free-speech" communities, now it's filled with these RW-podcaster types that I find even more cringe than most /pol/ users.

@PurpCat @eidolon @Forestofenchantment @Inginsub @suquili Which is why most 8chan bunkers are hesitant about hosting /pol/ boards. And it seems like the glowies only ever bother fedposting on those types of boards.

As far as I know, the only problem that 8moe had to go through was being dropped by some CDN because the CDN in question was hosted in Russia and the Russian government told them to drop them, so they went with Cloudflare instead.

There are thousands of imageboards and textboards out there. I don't see them going away anytime soon.

@PurpCat @eidolon @Forestofenchantment @Inginsub @suquili I still can't see the fedi ever fully replacing imageboards because with complete anonymity, posts are judged by content and not by the user. You can see how even on here, having IDs means that people will block, mute, or just ignore you if they don't like your opinion (and we see this on both "left-wing" and "right-wing" users). IDs give every user a reputation, regardless if they are connected to your real identity or not. Eventually, you have the elite users that people will always listen to and the users who made enough "bad posts" that even if they make a good post, they will still be ignored.

If you don't like what a company is doing... don't keep buying products and services from them.

Use your money (life force) to support what you want more of and stop the flow of resources to what you see as being harmful.

@picandor I don't know if they themselves are grifters, but they have been pandering to the techbro crowd lately. AFAIK, they only fund projects. Some of those projects might be legitimate, while others could be scams. Or they can all be scams. But like space colonization, seasteading is also an idea and has technically already been done before (look up Sea Land and The Republic of Rose Island), so even if they are grifters, that shouldn't taint the idea itself.

@picandor I honestly feel the same way about the seasteading movement. It's a brilliant idea, but no doubt there are a bunch of grifters there, and even the Seasteading Institute themselves are spamming their Twitter feed with AI art and auctioning off NFTs.

@picandor A lot of the techbro shit is probably just a psyop. Sure NFTs are useless, crypto and AI won't fix everything, but there are some good to come out of those things (except NFTs those are just digital Pokemon cards). I just think it's just a psyop to get people to turn down any legit invention/innovation that could actually help people.

Also, there is no doubt that there will be a bunch of ancaps and other libertarians embracing space colonies, but remember that space colonization is just an idea. You can have your own space colony in anyway you like.

The feeling I get when I think, read or hear about the crackdown on our privacy from all sides is the same feeling I got when governments locked the whole world in their homes and forced them to take experimental drugs they didn't want to take.
The only hope I have is that this really might be the inexorable fall of an empire.
And I hope it falls quickly.
Rip off the fucking band aid.

@Mr_NutterButter I see it as two things:

1. A reaction to Elon Musk being a total fraud, along with other people grifting on the space hype. Sure, I don't trust Elon Musk either and I'm open to the idea that most (if not all) of the things SpaceX are claiming to do are fake. Hell, I don't even fully trust NASA. I think the moon landings were a fraud, but I think anyone who does care about space should point out frauds when they see them because if we don't chances are that we will NEVER actually walk on the moon or do the cool things that these people are claiming to do.
2. It's just the "return to tradition" mentality taken to the extreme. The only way to be even more extreme is to deny science all together and embrace flat-earth theory.

@dcc I don't care about "muh third-position". You are just culturally far-right while being economically left.

was he annoying about it? i try not to be other than the yearly reminder about what i believe

Andrew Torah would bot-boost flat earthers.

:torbo: would even un-block flat earthers from other people's block lists. I had to re-block the same flat earthers over and over again.

I was among the first to get banned from Gab after the gabocaust. Just a day after Judgedread and OP9 got banned. Luckily I have had a fedi account or two since last year.

This is another lame argument against space colonization that I keep on hearing. Sure, life would probably won't be ideal for the settlers, but what will keep them going is knowing that they have purpose. Living in a pod on Mars will be much different than living in a pod on Earth where the only reason to do so is to appease the wishes of some technocratic psychopaths.

Also, news flash: you don't have to go there if you don't want to.

@neko Yeah, being a NEET can be fucking depressing. Though, ideally I would like to be self-employed one day.

gamedev

Added a slime enemy that takes one hit to kill.

I plan on balancing the enemy placement, having the stronger enemies appear in later levels because right now there is no change in difficulty whatsoever.

Both the far-left and far-right cases against space colonization are fucking dumb.

Sure, there is a lot of grifters out there like that Mars One scam from a few years ago, and I don't see it happening anytime soon, but I still feel like it's a goal worth pursuing.
