It's #NationalAviationDay! So far this #HurricaneSeason @NOAA’s WP-3D Orion has flown into TS #Cristobal, Hurricane #Hanna and Hurricane #Isaias deploying 155 dropsondes to gather atmospheric data. NOAA’s Gulfstream IV-SP also deployed 112 dropsondes during flights into #Isaias.

As #Isaias starts to come ashore in the Carolinas tomorrow evening, it'll bring with it the threat of a few tornadoes as well. Strong rotating winds can make these tropical twisters spin up quickly in rain bands well in advance of the storm and can cause severe damage.
