#Republican Rep #JohnCurtis, who has occasionally bucked #Trump, won a crowded #GOP #primary on Tues for Romney’s #Utah #Senate seat. He beat Trent Staggs, a #MAGA candidate w/ Trump’s blessing, to secure a win for the mainstream GOP in a devout #Mormon state that has long proved skeptical of Trumpian #politics.

When Romney dined with President-elect Trump (in Nov 2016), possibly to discuss a secretary of state position, Romney’s entrée was a hearty helping of humble pie: coincidentally, his just desserts. He nearly choked on it. He’s still seething, but he chose to be publicly humiliated.

Conservatives always vote in a block, so if we don’t, they stay in power. It’s that simple.

I mean, for our party, perhaps, but not when it comes to issues. For example, folks like #LizCheney and #MittRomney are a lot more like democrats than republicans.

Trans ideology is the only serious screw-up Dems have made in decades, and it’s already facing a backlash.

Haha do you actually believe this? What about intentionally raising gas prices to force consumers to switch to electric vehicles? Or raising taxes, driving companies out of their states? Or trying to keep their constituents from defending themselves by banning guns? Or supporting vast censorship measures like the ones that led to the very instance you’re on rn to be created because r/GenderCritical got banned from #Reddit?

Had a pleasant afternoon, indulging in the 20th century leisure of reading a daily newspaper, the New York Post, and the “first two decades“ recreation of doing the reading in a cafe maskless. Of course, patrons were rarely poring over anything other than their MacBooks even before the Wuhan coronavirus, so now a particularly uncommon way to spend free hours.

The lowlights for this issue include the cover story. “Cuomo bad, Cuomo bad!”, echoes of the Weinstein episode. Three women complaining (a fourth chick has the integrity to admit Cuomo’s jokes, about a sausage sandwich, were just part of friendly conversation), but it doesn’t amount to much. A hand on the back, a kiss on the cheek, yawn... when do we get to the bodice ripping? I’m sure it’s nothing Silvio Berlusconi hasn’t done. Republicans often fall for media-driven pile-ons of Democrats found to offend the reigning ideology, for little tangible benefit. In this case, gives unanimous support to feminism, akin to the antiracist campaign against Ralph Northam. Does the NY Post really think the Empire State will be better off if Cuomo departs only to make another Democrat, Kathy Hochul, the gov?

Aside from an op ed favoring Hong Kong dissidents (no such sympathies for US dissidents), there are several highlights, including pieces on a New Jersey law forbidding cops from telling parents if their kids had marijuana (first offense), the release of crooks from the closing Rikers Island jail to the streets (during a crime wave), and other insanities.

One bright point is this bill by Sens. Mitt Romney and Tom Cotton, as a compromise hike to the federal minimum wage.
