Came across a new word/concept on Mastodon: egregore.

It's kind of like a hive mind(swarm intelligence) as exhibited by groups such as Anonymous, 'Occupy' and the Yellow Vests(Gilets Jaunes) who eschew central leadership(the Gilets Jaunes are mostly hostile to anyone claiming to speak unilaterally for them) and largely favour decentralised decision making. Egregore is associated with the 'occult'.
