I did a thing. while working on native NFC capabilities, i ended up writing a test program which reads all the info from EMV cards (such as Visa/Master/Amex) and dumps it to try and learn the payload.
the info shown in the #GTK interface is fairly basic mostly as demo, but it dumps a lot more to the shell:

@furilabs have you considered moving away from Github (owned by Microsoft)?
For someone like me who is looking for independence from "Big Tech", seeing that you are on Github is a really bad sign, and it makes me reluctant to contribute.
Look at others, like Gnome, Purism, postmarketOS, Mobian, and so on, they all use something else. I think they know that Github is bad for them, both in practice and in principle.

FuriOS 13.1.0 includes support for installing apps from the OpenStore (https://open-store.io/), changing encryption password, installation of Ubuntu Touch dual boot and Android quick settings. This release also fixes some GPU crashes, modem crashes, MMS issues and fingerprint stability improvements and kernel updates to improve overall system stability and performance.

OpenStore - The open source app store for Ubuntu Touch
OpenStoreSo, my beloved OP6t broke today (screen damage) and since i will now retire it to be a #MobileLinux test device.
What i want from a successor device:
- repairability
- close to mainline linux
- waydroid with working bluetooth
So the question is, does such a device exist?
I know about the #FuriLabs #FuriFLX1, which does run on halium/no mainline and has no repairability afaik. Other "android first" phones usually lack hardware support.
FOSS mobile OS FuriOS has been updated to version 13.0.9 The update includes updates to Gnome, bug fixes, support for two way clipboard, and more. I was able to upgrade my FLX1 from 13.0.8 to 13.0.9 simply with a couple rounds of "sudo apt update" and then "sudo apt upgrade". I had no issues with my upgrade.

Our monthly update for April 2025, FuriOS 13.0.9 which…
FuriPhone FLX1 Linux Phoneis it too late to join the #pipewire party? i hope not, or else my #flx1 will be sad
all applications that use pipewire can finally utilize the camera (adding to our list of v4l, qtmultimedia and android apps)
one issue we are facing is that aperture is not very happy with the back cameras, so applications like #GNOME snapshot or authenticator will have the preview flipped. captured frames are surprisingly not flipped tho:
https://gitlab.gnome.org/GNOME/snapshot/-/issues/261
for this months updates, we are reworking our fingerprint setup entirely. the daemon (Biomd) is now written from scratch and no longer links against QT or libhybris.
while at it, i ended up writing a PAM module and a provider for #Fprintd which means all existing applications that use Fprintd will now work with our service.
one thing i wanted to experiment with was parallel PAM instances for stuff like sudo, so here is how far i got in about an hour
in an attempt to achieve the highest app compatibility known to man, i ended up writing a daemon that allows to install, configure and run #UbuntuTouch applications on our beloved #flx1 and it actually turned out pretty nice.
this is yet another service/client setup where now the store server is refactored to work alongside android-store (used to install android apps) to lower memory usage and the client is a #GNOME software plugin
#ubports #furilabs #LinuxOnMobile #LinuxMobile #furiphoneflx1
welp thats two for two.
hopefully we can have #sailfishos with VoLTE on release too very soon
ah yes i should add, if anyone is interested in bringing their distro feel free to contact us through our contact form (https://furilabs.com/contact/), and we will be happy to consider all requests if they help grow the ecosystem with more *mobile linux* options

as some might recall, we were working on a feature to allow multi booting different systems easily and without any hassle ( partitioning etc).
around that time we started to get in contact with known porters of different systems such as #UbuntuTouch and #sailfishos
after much effort and work, i can confidently say that the #flx1 will be added to the #UBports installer and OTA server soon allowing allow bare metal and multi boot installs!
after many days of work, here is another functional demo of #GNOME shell running on the secondary display connected to the #flx1. it took many hours to build the app and make everything act nice and not crash and integrate cleanly. still a long way to go but i think it is a good time to showcase the progress in the past 7 days.
i hope to get this ready and done by 13.0.9 which is the next release but obviously no promises.

FuriPhone FLX1 Linux Phone@pocketvj I just found out mautrix-signal cannot register as the primary device. It uses device linking. So it still needs a second phone that runs Android or iOS.
That doesn't just not solve the issue, it also weakens security compared to other solutions.
So the gold standard remains just running the Signal Android client using #waydroid, which I have been doing on my #Furilabs #FLX1 for several months now.
FOSS mobile OS FuriOS has been updated to version 13.0.8 The update includes battery management improvements, modem improvements, MMS improvements, and more. I was able to upgrade my FLX1 from 13.0.7 to 13.0.8 simply with a couple rounds of "sudo apt update" and then "sudo apt upgrade". I had no issues with my upgrade.

FuriPhone FLX1 Linux Phoneanother update on this the battery has now dropped by 30% in 85 hours.
at this rate it the estimated 100 to 0 is roughly around 12.5 days. of course there is still room for optimizations so we can easily get it to 14 days of idle time, but i think this will do for this month.
