I need more people to join !videogames@piefed.social.

Yes, I talk about video games here a lot. But I want a community that’s specifically about games—and one that’s actually good.

Now, why spin up a new video game space when #Lemmy already has several? Easy: I think #Piefed is better.

It’s smoother to crosspost from #Mastodon. The moderation tools are more powerful. And unlike most platforms, Piefed even lets you move your community elsewhere if you need to.

But here’s the real kicker: so many gaming communities on Lemmy feel stuck in Reddit-land. Bad moderation. Too self-serious. The same stale culture.

What I want to build instead is simple: a gaming community that’s open, welcoming, and fun.

the #lemmy instance on #sdf went down again... i need to figure out how to back up my account.

i really really wish there were something like the #redlib #reddit frontend for lemmy so i didn't have to use an account. i have no idea how that would work, though.

anyone know if there's an option for a single user #lemmy instance? or better yet, a userless lemmy instance?

i run alexandrite (github.com/sheodox/alexandrite) at the moment. it has a guest account but i'm not sure if i can follow communities and persist that so i just use my lemmy account.

i would love something like redlib (github.com/redlib-org/redlib) that would let me use lemmy without an account. it's been perfect for #reddit.

i don't care to post anything, just read.

boost appreciated!

Every week or so I pop by #Reddit, purely because I have a lot of friends who are developers and run their own subs there. I like to see how crazy their community is, and then do a general search.

The amount of bots! All the rage-bait and the GPT-generated posts on Reddit is just crazy to me. Who enjoys that?

When alternatives like #Mastodon and #Lemmy exist - #opensource and filled with genuine people, it amazes me people still opt for that cesspool.

Can you advise us a #Lemmy instance for creating a dev account?

It's unfortunate that #Reddit (their corporate owners) has cemented they are hostile to the open web: Killing third-party clients makes Reddit into a walled garden. The fact they're chasing an IPO means they will be beholden to big investor demands for profit, too.

May I suggest you instead join a selection of federated communities on #Lemmy, @lndn?

Except for the cases of security upgrades, I usually wait a few weeks before upgrading #Mastodon and #Lemmy servers to any new release, but it looks like Mastodon 4.4.0 has some interesting features. Should I upgrade Communick's server this weekend?

I have now found 1070 verified accounts from media organizations in the #Fediverse, but only on #Mastodon, #Flipboard, #Threads, #Bluesky, #Ghost and #Peertube.

Just one is on #Sharkey (👋🏻 @heiseBotti) and none on #Pixelfed, #Lemmy, #Piefed, #Misskey & Co. Are there really none there, or did I miss some?

Also: i talk up the idea of #Lemmy and #Mbin and #Piefed and the #Threadiverse in the idea on surfacing content...

Much of that idea was spurred by this from Piefed on it's potential feed format that can pull in multiple other community fediverse acocunts into one feed:

And would love to hear what @rimu thinks of my riffing on this for discovery fedi wide, and if he had notes.
