The main part of the UI is divided into 4, showing for each player the cards placed on the mat and its parameters. On the right-hand side of the UI, several zones (which can be detached from the UI), including Card Info (the spectator can select a card on the mat with a mouse hover to read it better), Player List (selecting a player also opens a menu with actions on that player, such as chat, add to friends list, view games, etc.), Messages (from the UI specifying player actions). At the top of the UI, tabs allow you to build a Deck by selecting cards online, view Servers by game type, view Replays, attend (and participate in?) several games simultaneously.

📚️ Cockatrice is a libre, multi-platform virtual tabletop card game (on a client/server model) whose (server-based) design prevents users from manipulating the game to gain an unfair advantage. Features include Deck design (cards downloaded from the interface), a well-designed lobby client allowing different types of game (Magic: The Gathering, Poker, Pokemon, YuGiOh, Hearthstone) with or without spectators, tabbed navigation between multiple games, chat, replay of games, offline solo play, themes, sound effects (deactivatable). Excellent!

📚️ Pharaoh (with Akhenaten engine) is a city-builder management game developed by Impressions Games and published by Sierra in 1999. It takes the game system of the Caesar III series and transposes it to the construction of an ancient Egyptian city. It benefits from an expansion, Cleopatra: Queen of the Nile, published in 2000. The player administers a plot of land in Ancient Egypt, building a city and developing trade with the aim of turning it into a flourishing Pharaonic (and Predynastic) city. Akhenaten is a libre, multiplatform compatible engine (derived from the Julius/Augustus projects for Caesar 3), making the game multiplatform and adapted to modern hardware. A job well done!

📚️ Race Into Space is a libre, turn-based strategy and space program simulation game, whose objective is to be the first team (USA or Soviet Union) to conduct a Lunar landing. This is a former commercial game released (by its developers, the Strategic Visions studio - Michael McCarty, aka mkmccarty, originally published by Interplay in 1993 and 1994, under the name “Buzz Aldrin's Race Into Space” aka BARIS) adapted from Fritz Bronner's Liftoff! board game. The project was subsequently improved (bug fixes, simplifications to reduce difficulty, porting to modern hardware, etc.). Each player controls a space center, which also serves as a navigation menu, and directs funds towards the purchase of equipment, research and development, astronaut recruitment and training, and launches. The objective is to successfully complete a manned lunar landing by completing a series of milestones to ensure success. The historical stages of the game range from the launch of a satellite, like Sputnik 1, to the completion of a lunar orbital mission, like Apollo 8.

The period is medieval, several Mongol units & a trebuchet surround a castle in the center. The units have an icon for easy understanding (mongol, sword, trebuchet, ..), slightly transparent when not selected. The Mongol on horseback on the right of the castle is selected. The castle (named Elephantine) seems to be under siege. On the left of the UI several command buttons (Sleep, Pillage Pasture, Explore, Wait, ..), below the characteristics of the selected unit (Keshik, 2 stars, XP 5/20, ..), in the lower middle a box with what seems to be a report on the selected unit (Keshik vs Elephantine). To the right of the UI, a message area ("The resistance in Sydney has ended!", ..), lower right a mini map. At the top of the interface a hamburger menu, and near it the title "Mongolia". 📚️ UnCiv is a ~ libre (icons & sounds not all libre), multi-platform, single-player / multi-player (by exchange of "User ID"), turn-based strategy game (4X) & Empire building, inspired by Civilization V: the game starts in 4000 BC Christ, the player directs a nation or an ethnic group, with the aim of supremacy over the other protagonists, leading his group until 2050 AD. It's a neat game that offers in-game help to get started, solo/multiplayer, map editor and game save / load. Very good !

📚️ Shattered Pixel Dungeon is a fork of Pixel Dungeon, and a traditional turn-based dungeon crawler RPG, libre and multi-platform, with pixel art graphics, great diversity and re-playability. Each game is unique, with 5 hero classes, each with 2 subclasses, 3 endgame abilities and over 25 talents, equipment that can be enchanted and upgraded, 5 dungeon regions, 26 floors, 100 room types and trillions of possible floor layouts, 60 enemy types, 30 traps, 5 bosses, 9 optional challenges and over 100 achievements. A RPG with a simple approach, but with great depth, where strategy is essential to win! Once again, an absolute must-try!

I know I'm late to the party, but I finally got a chance to play #balatro. It's a really well done deck building #roguelike, that is based on the rules of #poker. The graphics, music and gameplay are top notch, and it's impressive that it all fits in a very small download.

I'm still learning all the rules and effects, but I could easily see myself spending lot of hours on this one. #steamdeck #linuxgaming
