Here's a follow up.
We've had solar panels installed for exactly five years.
Total generation: 19,134 kWh.
Average yearly: 3,826 kWh.

According to the UK's Department for Energy Security and Net Zero, the average UK household's electricity consumption is… 3,800 kWh!

So our solar panels have allowed us to reach a personal "net zero" for our electricity consumption.
In fact, we generate *more* than we use. We're an exporter of clean green electricity to our neighbours.
