I remember playing this game as a kid, so to see it here on Steam was definitely exciting! Back in the day we only had the demo, so we had two levels and you could occasionally play the others until a timer ran out or something, so to be able to see the others and explore them was a lot of fun. Does it hold up to modern standards? Absolutely not. Surface geometry that appears even will disrupt your movement, some of the hitboxes for obstacles are a little wider than you'd expect, and the audio is pretty crunchy. Maybe there was some kind of porting issue when Technicat got the license and data for the game, or maybe my perception of good sound design was lacking when I was a kid, both are possible. But it's pretty tinny and a little difficult to listen to, and seems to vary in quality from course to course for some reason. I admire the developer's dedication to keeping things as original as possible, but if we could get a few sliders to adjust game volume, I'd really appreciate that. But this is meant to be just like the old Windows game, a trip back in time for those that played this game when they were younger. We're not looking for a good game, we're looking for THIS game, if that makes sense. I've seen so many comments of folks that played this when they were kids and came back all these years later, and still love this. And for that I tip my hat to you; you nailed it.

One of my favorite #SteamDeck games of all time: #Control (Ultimate Edition) has had the March update 𝘧𝘪𝘯𝘢𝘭𝘭𝘺 made available to it on #GOG (my preferred platform) - one week after it was released on #Steam and #EpicGames

The 'Anchor boss crash' which has plagued GOG users since it was released has finally been fixed!!!!!

I noticed that automated emails from Steam weren't doing alt-text very well. Some image links had no or inadequate alt-text. (Note that Steam don't support opting for plain text rather than HTML emails.)

I'm fortunate enough to depend upon alt-text never-to-rarely. But I prefer not to load remote images, so I still benefit from alt-text.

I filled out a support request to Steam layout out the specific examples I'd found of where they weren't doing very well, and stressing why it's (morally, legally, etc.) important to do better.

And you know what: they quietly fixed it. When I received an email today telling me that something on my wishlist is on sale, it had reasonably-good alt-text throughout. Neat.

There are tons of side quests, dungeons, and unique locations to check out as well as plenty of gear and magic! The world is totally open for you to explore... what will you find?

Many people have contributed to this game over the course of the last near-decade, and we would all appreciate you trying it out! God's Disdain is free to play with an optional Supporter Pack if you like the game. There is no DRM and all the game files are completely accessible if you would like to mess around with it!
