Last night I spent some time with my new Raspberry Pi 5, running Ubunutu 23.10. I decided if I could get the excellent https://github.com/phoboslab/wipeout-rewrite running. No issues at all, and plays great! #linux #raspberrypi #wipeout

Ich werde mal 3., mal 5. ... weil vor mir einfach keine anderen Fahrzeuge mehr auftauchen. Nach der ersten Runde Dritter und dann fahr ich Solo bis Ende der dritten Runde. Wtf?
... den nächsten Lauf verkacke ich komplett, schaffe es von der Zeit her nicht mal unter die Top 5 ... doch werde dabei Erster.
Irgendwas ist hier, speziell auf dieser Bahn, ziemlich kaputt.

How? Well - the source code simply leaked in '22.

There are at least two other ports already: WipEout Phantom Edition / unnamed project by developer XProger.

Legal or not - are we approaching a new era not to be stopped? Code is there with no assets to continue policing the stuff everywhere.

Flashout 3D: Enhanced Edition is a third-person Wipeout-style track racer. Race hover-ships, upgrade them, win races, etc.

After getting out of the game and checking the release date, I had to double-check the details, and then hit Google.

This does not play like a game released in 2022. Per the game description it's a free re-release to celebrate the developer's release of Flashout 3.

The reason I didn't recall the original Flashout is because it was released in 2012, and it was mobile-only.

That makes more sense of the "Enhanced Edition", but the gameplay is very much 2012, and there's just not a lot to offer here, even for free, that isn't bettered by more recent games.

They didn't put any energy into even providing mapping information for the controller buttons, let alone configuration, and I had to quit the game and turn off Steam input for it to even register any buttons other than the left control stick.

If you've got a gaming budget of zero, or want a free game for your kids' PC, it's not terrible, but it's not great either.

Since the EA servers were down and I couldn't play Battlefield as planned, I decided to return to an old favorite, which I hadn't played in years.

Wipeout!

Not sure if playing a relentlessly fast antigravity racer while blasting the adrenaline inducing beats of Swedish House Mafia and The Prodigy is the best idea before going to bed, but hey, I had fun!
