If the free market worked to benefit consumers and if companies always acted in the best interests of the consumer and if corporations weren't positively reenforced to consistent malevolent, anti-social behavior then we wouldn't need government regulations to force market entities to stop doing shitty things and good things wouldn't solely exist within the places where these regulations existed.

The freer the market the freer the people, eh? Idk why some people think allowing corpos to do whatever they want will somehow benefit them.

Oh yeah I'll agree on that part, you can get something better instead. Though this regulation is a good idea imo, same as forcing them to adopt usb c.

Say you get handed one down from a friend who got a new phone. You'll be able to install software not approved by crapple.

I think all companies should be forced by law to make their devices have the capability of installing unofficial software by the user
@nyoom@akko.disqordia.space @Arcana@akko.disqordia.space @adiz@soc0.outrnat.nl
Including custom firmware if the user chooses to install that

The alternatives are few and far between and I don't see how forcing them into pro consumer practices is a bad thing in any way. Tim cook can cry about it. Being able to install coreboot on any mobo would be based as fuck, that's why I also mentioned firmware.

Why don’t people start a company selling the product they want to see rather than begging government to change things people already like?
Ah yes lemme just build an advanced chip fab from nothing for open source hardware. Breaking into the tech market is not easy to put it lightly.
