A lot of people like to describe the left-right power struggle as a pendulum that swings back and forth, but that's not even remotely accurate. The reality is that the struggle is more akin to a hammer.

For more than a hundred years the left has been pushing the right back further and further. Every now and then they'd ease off a bit and the hammer would move back forward a bit, but then they go right back to pushing.

In the past five years though, the hammer has caught the sear and locked into place and there is no further room to push it back. Easing off and letting it come back gently is no longer on the table either. The right is now waiting for a single strong trigger press to cause it to snap back violently and unleash the hate and rage that has built up for six decades and kill the leftists that have been playing Polish Roulette on a civilizational scale.
