Atheists believe in plenty of things, just not God. The most common religion along atheists is scientism.

Roman historians documented that Jesus and all 12 of his apostles (including Matthias instead of Judas) were put to death when they easily could have just given up and denounced the whole thing. Too many martyrs throughout the centuries for it to be fake.

Alternatively, you can conclude that all large religious movements have something very pertinent to say and you should spend your time trying to sus out exactly what that is instead of engaging in anti-Christian Reddit atheism

@NEETzsche @D00B @Eris @Returned_tryhard @bub @coyote @eris @fiddle @fluffy @jyushimatsu @verita84 oh i understand the general purpose of religion in society i think. i'm not one of those people who thinks that religion is evil or anything. however i think someone can develop a moral code and set of values for them to live by without religion having to tell them what it should be.
@mushroom_soup @NEETzsche @D00B @Eris @bub @coyote @eris @fiddle @fluffy @jyushimatsu @verita84 a moral code and values are inherently part of religion. You are making your own religion. You may not call it that but that`s what it is.
@Returned_tryhard @D00B @Eris @NEETzsche @bub @coyote @eris @fiddle @fluffy @jyushimatsu @verita84 a moral code isn't the defining feature of religion, or at least i wouldn't call it that. i think a religion has to have a spiritual or supernatural element
@mushroom_soup @D00B @Eris @NEETzsche @bub @coyote @eris @fiddle @fluffy @jyushimatsu @verita84 a moral code is the last thing you figure out in a religion. The first is the why. Christianity and Islam both depict a creator who loves you and wants you to love him back. That is their why. You skipped that step which is why you feel so empty and unfulfilled even though you're doing everything right according to your own religion.

You cannot develop a dog's tail without a dog. You can sever it and hold it in your hands but it will not wag for you. It will not welcome you home.
@Returned_tryhard @D00B @Eris @NEETzsche @bub @coyote @eris @fiddle @fluffy @jyushimatsu @verita84 i don't actually feel empty and unfulfilled. i don't think you understand: i know that my moral code is completely relative, i don't care. it still is valid to me. my 'why' is because of my basic emotion of empathy towards others. if anything, i think that's a more concrete reason to act morally than 'well god told me so and i don't want to burn in hell!'

It's as braindead as any other alternative, including "because god said so"
