#1 VPNs overall are just an alternative wrapper to your ISP. As long as it's not something shady/shilly (like proton or nord or something) it's probably preferable (Especially if it's something with obvious dedication to privacy, like Mullvad), and can still be combined with Tor
#2 Complain against Tox feels weaker (KCI depends on already getting your key, which is a problem to begin with)
#3 Matrix is a lot more complex, requires more signup info, and uses servers instead of being directly P2P, like Tox
