Does anybody know why tranny fedi is suddenly having a meltdown about "muh internet nahtzees!! :soy_cry: "?

Like, they're unusually whiny and prolific today, did something happen? :zt_think:
@Giganova8 Alex Gleason (Soapbox dev) asked the pleroma devs (that's the pronouns group) to incorporate a few lines of code to make user experience better for federation between Soapbox and pleroma.

pleroma devs said no it's not necessary (despite pleroma having better federation support for misskey and mastodon)

So Alex gave them the middle finger for specifically not wanting to cooperate with Soapbox. Pleroma devs were like "sorry this is our club don't like it go somewhere else." Then banned Alex from the pleroma gitlab.

since all the prominent pleroma devs have pronouns in their profile, one of them having a blog post complaining about alex working on pleroma in the past because he's a transphobe, it's a no brainer at this point that they're alienating him and soapbox over political reasons

poasters and the alike called out the devs for their petty behaviour and unfair treatment of Alex, pleroma devs and other orbiting troons cry that they're the real victims. 🙄

@ehhh @Giganova8 IIRC gleasoy was asked to provide a sensible graceful degradation for instances which don’t support quote posts and then sperged out about how soybox is the new twitter and he’s on the forefront of the battle against megacorps and others should follow suit or die out

the fact that you’re even able to see RT links at the end of quote posts on instances that don’t support them is due to @hj or @lanodan telling him off, i don’t remember who exactly it was

@pomstan @lanodan @hj @Giganova8 And to make that smooth transition they could've just incorporated that code, right? That adds support and doesn't break anything.

And, fediverse is just decentralized twitter tho... even if pleroma makes it look the least like twitter, I'm hard to believe that it is not a twitter alternative ecosystem.

But according to hj they're gonna consider adding it in the future because... someone else that isn't alex wants to support QRTs now?

@ehhh @lanodan @hj @Giganova8 what transition and what code? there was nothing at the beginning and i believe he fucked off before he implemented the “RT:” hack

But according to hj they’re gonna consider adding it in the future because…

don’t they accept most of the shit which is not terribly retarded and is implemented in a proper way? i shudder at the thought of them accepting mfm, though

@pomstan @lanodan @hj @Giganova8 Transition to support QRTs

The code that Alex was begging to be implemented in pleroma because he claims that it doesn't break anything, although now as I am reading people are saying the exact opposite, so, whatever.

what is mfm?
@ehhh @lanodan @Giganova8 @pomstan it's pretty new and fresh but also quite broken at times and feels mostly experimental. It looks like something i'd do if i was drunk 24/7 and had no regards to humanity.

I mean they used mongodb and then switched to postgre IIRC, with migration strategy being "just start from scratch lmao", that should set the theme.
@hj @lanodan @Giganova8 @pomstan it looks pretty cute from my perspective but I guess it hides the initial mess that way
@ehhh @lanodan @Giganova8 @pomstan yeah, it has cool features like rooms which is just letting you have a picture isometric room filled with stuff or something, the aformentioned seizure shit, the "antenna" which i think something like "you can have a search timeline" or something. Not gonna lie, it's all really cool. Pleroma also does stuff like that but sometimes, like PleromaFE having Flash support or Pleroma has BBS SSH interface...

@hj @ehhh @lanodan @Giganova8 don’t forget the cat ears. the cat ears is the main selling point for mentally handicapped persons i reckon

@ehhh @lanodan @Giganova8 @pomstan that's the pleroma approach basically, let's have it customizable. Hopefully we have less germans on team now so it's unlikely that you'll have to enter latin species name to select ear type
@hj @lanodan @Giganova8 @pomstan I think the biggest thing I dislike about pleroma is that it doesn't separate your profile posts and replies to a thread when viewing someone's timeline. Soapbox has that. Maybe there's a way to do it in pleroma but I'm not sure I don't really use it.

@ehhh @lanodan @hj @Giganova8

it doesn’t separate your profile posts and replies to a thread

this separation is twitter nonsense

@ehhh @lanodan @hj @Giganova8 no, it’s an email workflow. every decentralized protocol is a reimplementation of email

@pomstan @lanodan @hj @Giganova8 at least email has a way to sort your messages

pleroma (and reddit) as far as I can tell cannot so this isn't an argument.
@hj @lanodan @Giganova8 @pomstan I do like pleroma's threading actually

I can preview replying to and replies very easily. It's just the way they display posts on a person's profile that's not really my preferred experience.

@dielan @ehhh @lanodan @hj @Giganova8 @pomstan Could it look a bit more like matrix mentions?
