Sometimes I wonder if people become hoarders because they have nosy parents who throw everything and anything out

Whoops we threw your shirt out and something you liked out ;^)
Also: the parent who sets unreasonable cleaning expectations on you but can't clean her own room out and so you're running down a treadmill she doesn't have to

@PurpCat Ooh boy I've got a hoarder parent story.

I got a friend who's parents collect expired and unused electronics in the garage, and they constantly get mad at him for owning anything without their explicit permission because they want more space in his bedroom to shove their junk into his closet. Then they complain that they don't have any money and have to eat expired food... They live in a big rich house in a gated California community, have a ton of unused stuff and you pay for food you don't eat, routinely drink alcohol and quit both their jobs at EA, how is it the son's problem there's no money left? Roach infestations, black mold etc etc. The worst part is that this friend of mine genuinely believes his parents are being honest with him and that it's not that bad cause they give him fake affection like he's a five year old. I had to fight with his dad because he wouldn't allow me to ship him a new computer unless I ripped out the graphics card, then called me a predator. I feel sorry for the guy he's obviously got some sort of Stockholm syndrome.

@bonkmaykr yeah or he's too broke to move out because the job market is dogshit
