Mini Overview: Komi Can’t Communicate Season 2

Beauty, Originality, Respect, Integrity, Nuance and Generosity, Komi Can’t Communicate season 2 embodies a portion of these, that being the capitalized first letter of each of them aka, BORING… I thought season 1 was a knock off version of Handa-Kun but his season was even less of a show and not even close to Handa-kun that I started comparing it to Skikimori and Senryu Girl with maybe MILD hint of better “comedy high energy” elements and its sort of being generous.

This season was trying way to hard to be like its last season but failed miserably and most certainly is going for a safe, normie female audience in a more obvious way than last time. Similar to Isekai Quartet they have a valentine’s episode and somehow fuck up how it could have gone spectacularly, there wasn’t any real development romantically or story wise aside from a few new “friends” added to a list, the events are a hellava lot more grounded and uninteresting with moments put in to try and pretend it’s still semi hyper but shows like Love is War do it VASTLY better and I wouldn’t say I thought that show was amazing or anything either and motivations and situations feel a lot more forced in a sense that keeping the fact one of the new characters is also shy a secret makes no fucking sense and how a lot of girls in his class are cool with him but didn’t give the MC any chocolates just to have the shy guy be weirdly “misunderstood-ly” gay with him about it??? Also with almost every episode it makes me route (if I care enough to) against komi because she’s so fucking boring compared to almost any other girl in the show. Even if I don’t like the stalker pervert chick she’s at least more interesting to see on screen.

The animation was nice and vivid (in the style aimed at women) but didn’t do much that inspired my interest, the characters felt a lot more bland and tropey compared to last season, the events were lack luster and it felt like a decent downgrade from the first season which I already didn’t like that much. This show feels like its EXPLICTLY appealing to the normie, feminist and almost 0 fan service crowd but I will state it not SO BAD that I couldn’t get through it but my attention span weighed VERY OFTEN.

*New*
Worst Quality: The lack of any real development to make it interesting.

Best quality: Komi breaking out of her shell a bit more to try and use her own voice.

ZzZz: I wanted to walk away, fall asleep and do almost anything else multiple times because nothing that was happening was better or worth seeing in this season. If there was a season 3 or movie you wouldn’t need to watch season two to understand much of anything, just get a overview of some of the new characters and you’d be fine if you wanted to watch past this point at all.

Gimmick Me A Break: This felt like it had the same issue as Skikimori where there was the gimmick of “komi can’t talk well” but almost everything else was a less than average slice of life “comedy” that seemed to play things somehow more safe.

Not The Target: I’m clearly not the target audience for this season at least because t was clear to me this was aimed at women and normies who can’t handle fan service and have double standard when it comes to perverts being female and I fear if this shit is praised anime will downgrade overtime to a bland ass point of no return aside from maybe shounen (which also is pretty bland).

Overall this season was a large downgrade and downright uninteresting so I’ll have to say this is gonna get a 4.5/10. I thinking about 5 as a score but it wouldn’t be fair to the show that didn’t annoying me or bore me but were just ok.
