Most people support the police state until they become a victim of it.
Because the populace has been thoroughly brainwashed into believing in the alleged benevolence of the police state. Both the left and the right are equally guilty of this.
It's not surprising if you ever watch television. How many TV shows are there to romanticize and glorify the police? The news programs, "Cops," "Law and Order," "American Greed," you name it - the percentage of such programs on the air in a given 24-hour period is disproportionately high.
In the meanwhile there is no TV programs that positively portray people who stand up for individual liberties.
