You're leaving something important out. Hong Kong practices open markets,
but is also majority Chinese with strict immigration. America had open market and strict immigration with a single language and dominant culture up until the immigration system was derailed in 1965 and the family unit destroyed with Johnson's Great Society. We don't even have a free market, anymore. And I guarantee you that if North Korea took Hong Kong for an example it would be a very wealthy nation.
A country's success is dependent on unity in ethnicity and culture, and the environment of its markets. History has shown this time and time again, and human nature has proven time after time that diversity is the poison of society.
