I hate it when I compare hating on pedos to hating on lgbt people, and someone jumps in with;

I hate talking back to an argument like this, because it's easy to come off as belitteling that person's trauma
I think that children can consent, but abuse is [obviously] bad

Imo the easiest way to response for me it's "well, I've been too traumatized by women, but I don't go around saying lesbians are bad. I just don't feel any attraction towards them"

@Spaghettimon I tend to foreground economic issues, but the STDs were important and figure prominently in Trumbach's analysis (e.g. Sex and the Gender Revolution), a major influence on my thinking. Also I agree that prudishness (I usually say Puritanism or sex fascism, but maybe prudishness is less loaded) is in an important sense on the verge of collapse. A youth movement for sexual liberation would be the death blow, and hopefully that will happen.

The gains of the 70s sexual revolution that have not been rolled back were significant; saying "nearly all has been undone" was more an expression of frustration than an accurate description. It's never possible to put the genie quite back in the bottle, and I believe you are right to anticipate a new libertinism that will make today's seem tame.

Hate that type of a person who's semi supportive of maps, but needs us to be miserable and vulnerable for it. "My page is for everyone who struggles with pedophilic disorder", with no mention of people who just live their lives, or, worse, equation of being okay with mapness and being a sexual predator.

People with paraphilias deserve to make sex work content too!! 🖤
