Martial Arts Film Recommendations: The 1978 Hong Kong Kung Fu Classic. From The Shaw Brothers Studios. The 36th Chamber Of Shaolin. Starring Lau Kar Fai aka Gordon Liu, And Lo Lieh. Directed by And Choreographed by Lau Kar Leung. The Film takes place in Ancient China durin' The Qing Dynasty. Where The Manchu People ruled China. After defeating the Han Chinese Ruled Ming Dynasty. It follows the Main Character Liu Yu-De. Who joins the Han Chinese Rebels against the Qing Dynasty. He would later seek Refuge in The Shaolin Temple. To learn to seek Revenge. But he would become a different Character. And becomes The Monk San-Te. Training in the 35 Chambers Of Shaolin. Wanting to build a 36th Chamber Of Shaolin. To teach Kung Fu to the Oppressed Han Chinese. Instead of bein' consumed by Vengeance. The 36th Chamber Of Shaolin is a must watch. The Story And Characters are great. But the Main Attraction is The Martial Arts Fight Choreography. And main does it deliver when it delivers. While most of The Film is a Training Montage. It's Great cause you get to see San-Te grow as a Character. Especially as a Martial Artist. The Late Great Lau Kar Leung did a fantastic job as a Director. While this wasn't his Directorial Debut. It's definitely one his best. And Lau Kar Fai aka Gordon Liu is amazing as The Main Character San-Te (Sam Tak). And Lo Lieh was awesome as The Ruthless Manchu General. The 36th Chamber Of Shaolin is a awesome Hong Kong Kung Fu Film. And I highly recommend it.
