@sjw @jeff I suppose they'll try to make an example of him for being involved in Monero, even though he stepped down a couple years ago. And the alleged fraud dates from 2009-2011, well before his involvement in Monero. Though the name fluffypony is lame.
@parker @sjw don't give up reddit here's how monero can still get mass adoption:

[insert big wall of text here]

XMR transactions have steadily increased over the last few years. And if you spend any time on Dread, it's obvious how ubiquitous it's becoming.
@parker @sjw @jeffcliff wait, so it's basically all drug money? that's not a good thing.
@jeff @jeffcliff @sjw That was the original argument against Bitcoin, it all being drug money. Successful criminals are often the earliest adopters of new, useful technology, in order to stay ahead of law enforcement. But the benefits of reducing government control outweigh the costs. Take it from Milton Friedman (though I know appeal to authority is a fallacy).
@parker @sjw @jeffcliff the difference here is that monero wont get mass adoption because there is no coin for the illicit use to abscond off to to reduce pressure from institutions that inhibit mass adoption.
@jeff @jeffcliff @sjw I don't quite get your meaning, however they have implemented "atomic swaps", allowing two parties to exchange XMR<->BTC without the use of an intermediary. Ultimately the protocol will be expanded to include other coins, so that you can abscond off to any coin you want.
@parker @sjw @jeffcliff i doubt xmr's atomic swaps will help reduce the stimga of it being a coin used only by crimimals.

@jeff @jeffcliff @sjw By donating Monero to leafposter.club, you, a law-abiding citizen, can single-handedly end this stigma. I’m proud of you!
