Trader Joe's is owned by Aldi North. All Aldis in America are Aldi South.

For whatever reason Aldi South has the trademark rights to the name in the US. So Aldi North has to operate through the Trader Joe's brand.

It even gave the "I thought they were Lidl" objection to a witness character who constantly lies on the stand and is wrong about everything.
