I'm curious how similar Syncthing is to the torrent protocol. They have a similar setup, in that clients use a central server to discover each other, but actual traffic just goes peer to peer.

I'm using a mod right now that makes it a lot easier. You should still be aware of the leveling metagame to achieve best results, but it's less needed.
