I've only seen openbox in some liveusb stuff. Don't have enough experience with it really, but while I'm sure it's lightweight and fast, it also looks like complete, unusable bs imo.
As for tiling desktops, that's just something people use for bragging rights as far as I can tell. Unless you're a robot that does only 2-3 things on their system, I don't see how it could make things easier or better in any way.

I used xfce for a while too. But I really felt like I needed the Windows style icon taskbar manager thing. Otherwise, it was a good desktop experience too.

To give him some credit, at least he had the balls to say the national guard should be sent in. But he's definitely not a "race unifier" like Obama was lauded as. He wouldn't have a chance to quench this even if he tried. Obama probably would have, but he didn't try.

I've been using KDE for 2-3 years now. I was initially prepared to sacrifice some speed & resources in favor of having an environment in which I would feel more comfortable coming from Windows. But it turned out it didn't feel laggy or anything like that. And while I did have some problems with glitches for a while, I think it might have been mostly because of a failing GPU.
