You know what... I've concluded that too many people on fedi are gay for Ethan Ralph.

Is YouTube sperging out recently only for me? I either get this, or it manages to load the video with no audio. A half dozen refreshes usually gets it going, but what the hell?!

No Nut November: the month when people abstain from eating nuts to show their support for people with nut allergies.

Every time I see one of those "you will never be a woman" posts, I have an urge to say "and you'll never be a man".

Sorry, but do you really think the way you bitch about this makes you manly? News flash: it doesn't.

Sure, it's impossible for a trans-woman to become a female. That's a no brainer. But the way you go about it to bitch and whine makes you look as emotional and irrational as a woman on her period or maybe a child. In either case, definitely not a man.

Question for anyone who knows DC comics lore: how did Beast Boy get his powers? I know that in one of their animated shows, he got his animal morph powers because of a blood transfusion from a Martian lady. But I suspect that's not the comic canon.

If I called a trans person a "person of indeterminable gender", would that be insulting?

@Paygan All of the western names either have meaning, or evolved from words that had meaning.

It just shows how short Arabic cultural history is compared to European and Mediterranean culture.
Arab names didn't have enough time to evolve from common nouns and adjectives, into proper nouns.

For example:
Bob evolved over many generations from Robert, that has its origin in ancient Germanic "Hrodebert", a combination of "Hruod" meaning "fame / glory / honour / praise / renown" and "Berht" meaning "bright / light / shining".

So Bob means "fame-bright", or "shining with glory".

Today, for the first time, I gave a bullet hell game a proper try: Tyrian 2000.

It's an ancient game, that I got on GOG for free at some point (still free now). I know I've heard somewhere that it's an easy, or rather forgiving, game for it's genre, so the name stuck in my memory as a "if I ever want to actually try bullet hells, this has to be the game to try". So today I did.

I'm playing on normal difficulty (although I could have sworn I've chosen easy), and I'm rather rubbish (I regularly barely destroy over 50% of the stuff in a mission), but you know what, I'm having fun, and that's all I care about.

The game gives you a whole lot of weapons and upgrades to choose from for your ship, that are freely interchangeable at any time, so I'm sure there's something for whatever you prefer in your bullet hell game. It has a local 2-player mode (both players share the same screen). It has 3 levels of difficulties unlocked at start + a "timed battle" mode. Runs via Dosbox with no issues. Oh, and it even recognized my gamepad with no config necessary. Don't know how it managed that but it did (I'm guessing Dosbox did some magic, haven't used it before). Right now I'm playing with my mouse though. Let me know what the "approved" control scheme for a bullet hell game is.

I've generally avoided bullet hell games like the plague, cause I can get information overload when there's just too much going on, and I just can't process things in time. But Tyrian is forgiving enough that I can enjoy it just fine, without worrying that I'm not perfect.

Long story short, if like me you avoided bullet hell games cause they're too hard for you, give Tyrian 2000 a chance. Maybe you'll get some enjoyment out of this genre of games.

There’s a newer, fancier, more expensive Hinata bride figure. The older one has her in her Japanese bridal attire that she wears when she marries Naruto, so I can’t help but feel like the intention on the new one in a western style dress and staircase is to be the Hinata that YOU, guy with Hinata as a waifu, marry.

Reminder that some things are not even worth pirating.
