The tragedy of Social Media is the tragedy of staring from equality of opportunity and concluding equality of outcome.
That is, believing that just because you have a platform i.e. an equal opportunity to speak, what you say is equally meaningful and important ( equality of outcome ) to someone more intelligent, prepared and
capable than you.
This is in part because Social Media has always been one and only one thing : cheap entertainment. So is logical that, because it is cheap entertainment, , except with rare exceptions, the most mediocre people of it end up gaining the bigger followings. This creates the illusion that, because they have big audiences, what they are saying is important or meaningful. Which results in Media picking up mediocre half-baked statements from Social Media and promoting them as unquestionable "truths".
All because people ignorance lead them to arrive to a false conclusion.
