I've got a Linux question. But first some context.
I'm running Manjaro, on a btrfs filesystem with zstd compression activated.
Since Manjaro is an Arch distro, I get my software updates through pacman, which gets packages also compressed with zstd.
Ever since I switched to compressed btrfs I noticed something: pacman downloads take just as long as before, but the installation itself is basically instant.
So my question is: does my system know that, since the pacman packages have the same compression applied to them as my btrfs filesystem, it doesn't need to decompress the software packages only to recompress them again for btrfs? Does it actually just skips decompressing during install and just plops the files compressed as they are to the disk?
I can't figure out why installs have been so fast for me lately, and this is the only explanation that makes sense to me.
Haven't watched all of it, but it looks accurate.
Today's dream featured 2 "classic" PCs:
- Pentium 2 PC with Windows 98 installed
- Pentium 3 PC with 512MB ram and 1GB SiS GPU, with a AMD cooler on the CPU, and Windows 98 as OS (although I was planning to put XP on it, mostly because I was having trouble getting the audio to work).
Also both systems had their own CRT monitor.
Rakudai Kishi no Cavalry quick review:
The fan service... omg the fan service...
Ok, maybe I'm exaggerating a bit, but it does have some nicely done fan service, and it incorporates it rather well.
The story itself is the usual affair. The usual sword fights with magic mixed in, with a protagonist that supposedly lacks natural talent for the magic part, but with hard work, against all odds, he rises to the top.
Nothing fancy or particularly noteworthy, so it doesn't get more than 7/10 from me, but it is still good enough, that if you're looking for a short 12 episode anime, it gets a definitive recommendation.
Never enough RGB.
