Fun fact, the Star Wars galaxy is called Skyriver. Also, humanity actually originated in a different dimension, and were brought to the Skyriver Galaxy by evil god-entities that knew humans would wreak chaos across the galaxy (which they kinda did).

If USA is so good, you'd think they'd make a USA2 by now. :thonktinfoil:

I'll be honest with you, Alex Jones is kinda retarded.

At this point, I can't tell who's more cringe. Ralph, or Cog for still doing drama streams on him.

Apparently my country is the second most dangerous country in Europe to drive in... god dammit!... why can't we be the best at anything?! So close to greatness, so close to being 1st!... only to be surpassed by fucking Serbia.. Curse you!!!

Oh shit, there's a Xenoblade 2 delocalization now.

Fuck yes, maybe I'll play it in an emulator after all
@wgiwf @Goalkeeper @DrRyanSkelton I was going to start a manga publisher back in the mid 2000s, got my business plan together, got into contact with Tuttle Mori (the agency basically all works used to be licensed through) and I found out a lot of things about the Japanese industry.

1. It is market driven.
2. They are aware that they don't know what Westerners want and trust Western companies and journalists to reflect what we want to them.
3. This is not "art" to the publishers (Kodansha, Square Enix, etc). To them, it is a product to be made to sell and whatever needs to change for it to sell overrides whatever the artist might want or think unless they are a reliable hit maker (Toriyama, Seo Kouji, people like that)

The function out the other side is that they will absolutely let Western studios change just about anything they want. It got bad enough in some cases, that the Japanese companies were getting upset at having the media misrepresented to the world and clamped down a bit.

For the more artistic Japanese side reaction to this being the state of the industry, you can see the minor rebellion that Murata Range created in the form of his ROBOT books, where he got weird and interest artists together and let them just do whatever they wanted.

But generally, it's understood that this is a product and appeals to a specific genre segement (shounen, seinen, shoujo, ecchi, etc)

China doesn't have that view and is very protectionist of their culture and cultural output and how it's viewed abroad so I expect they will remain better about it.
@Goalkeeper @DrRyanSkelton The annoying part, even beyond the "localizing" is that they aren't just making it "more understandable," they're erasing the culture behind the product which made all this popular to begin with AND adding their own "better" version. So many localizers talk about how boring and straightforward Japanese is.

And yes, if you learn nothing about the culture, it seems boring. It is a nuanced method of communication that can be expressed well without "localizing" it and filling it with memes and whatever these fanfic faggots think is funny.

They obviously have no respect for the art, they have no respect for the culture that produced it, and they imagine themselves as improving it by spicing up "bland" characters, ignoring that the cultural output being interesting and good is the only reason they have a job in the first place.

I hate it so much. I hate that most localizers don't even speak the language, let alone understand the culture. They need to be killed. It's such a brilliant and easy way to learn about a culture, learn about their quirks and world view and customs, and these faggots delight in shitting it up.

I don't think it proves them right, I just think that it is hilarious.

I do think, though, that there is an inherent fragility to any organization that relies on repetitive propaganda and censorship for its continued existence; cults or governments or all those wignats that start repeating their slogans at you if you use one of the words.

I noticed something about, I forget, I think it was chess, but it was definitely not about race or politics, and I said on fedi that I had noticed it, and some wignat pops in and says "Noticing things makes you anti-semitic" and this was about the eighth time I'd heard that but this was so completely out of left field that I got pissed off at the guy, like they refuse to allow you to use some really common English-words without injecting their horseshit thought-stopping cliches.
