I just shorted my fucking laptop cause I stuck a USB C charger into a normal USB port

it'll be nice to be able to just use USB C for whatever i need...
the problem is i was bored, fucking around, and put a usb c charger, into a usb port.
which then caused the computer to short and shut off.
thankfully nothing broke, but was a good scare

@Halo USB-C for data is fine, but not different things on the same port. Things aren't supposed to connect and then not work, much less break your devices.That's never been a thing

I wasn't trying to transfer data, or connect anything.
My laptop is from like 2014 so it doesn't even have a USB-C port, and has a VGA connector.
I was bored at work.
I was holding a USB-C charger for my phone that was plugged in.
I was watching a show and tapping it at the side of my computer.
I wasn't paying attention, and i crammed it into the USB port.
presumably electricity was moved, which then shorted my computer.
usb-c is fine. i like it. i hope it ends up on pretty much any mobile device i use in the future.
