Would medical costs fall if doctors and hospital were not regulated?
Do doctors have a vested interest in killing their patients?
Do licensed doctors and hospitals ever make mistakes?
Do patients have any responsibility at all to research the reputation of doctors and hospitals?
1- a lot of people are very dumb and value price above all else, so shitty doctors can stay in business by just charging less and spreading misinformation to steal customers from good doctors
2- ensuring a basic level of competence and hygiene means you -should- be able to go to any hospital for an emergency and get an acceptable treatment, instead of having to wait 6 months to go to the most reputable doctor. You can go to the doctor you like for serious but not time sensitive treatments, but can have the security any doctor will do ok when you need it fast.
