Back when movies were big, big business every aspect of their production and promotion was extremely professional. You had still photographers with extremely large negative cameras to shoot publicity stills that could be blown up to the size of a billboard if needed, documentary films of big productions, electronic press kits, movie trailers carefully crafted to be spoiler free, painted movie posters by great artists, the works.

Now I see movie posters consisting of poorly chosen still frames and every trailer gives away 80% of the plot.

@judgedread I miss the good old days when they used to have voice-overs and trailers. But now they just show clips and spoilers, making it less exciting to see the film.

@helldiverliberator The Superman: The Movie and Alien teaser trailers, which I believe were done by the same agency, consisted of entirely original footage not seen in the films. Superman had the signature streak animation photography titles and Alien had the egg cracking and blinding light coming out.

@DMA I would rather watch that than that bullshit Fantastic Four MCU movie with that untalented spick Pedro Pascal!

@DMA Henry Canvill was pretty good too even though Batman versus Superman sucked.

He's talking about the 1978 Superman movie directed by Richard Donner, not the new thing by JJ Abrams.
