Imagine 5 years in jail for going out with a hooker. As a marriage respecter I think people should seek sex in meaningful relationships, but this punishment is stupid and cruel. Canada is an insane country.

@deadheat funny thing is, this won't affect the prostitutes themselves, if it's anything like laws in the States. The whores get a slap on the wrist while their patrons run the risk of imprisonment.
When the vice taker is punished worse than the vice giver... Just another example of our "anarcho-tyranic" society

@RehnSturm256 @deadheat And yet people still spread the misinformation that prostitution is "legal" in Canada, for that reason.

@Galena @RehnSturm256 That would be an outright lie, why would anyone say it's legal? Prostitution is a deal and making the deal is illegal.

@deadheat @RehnSturm256 I think it's some weird technicality, where the act of selling sex itself technically isn't illegal, but everything else involved is illegal, including buying sex. At least, it used to be like that - I haven't been keeping up with Canadian prostitution laws, and I think they've changed in the past few years. They're very confusing and bizarre.

@Galena @RehnSturm256 I get the technicality thing, which is not true anyway since the law prohibits prostitution from happening period, what I was wondering is the purpose of making that point? Trying to defend the politicians who enacted that law from the accusation of being authoritarian?
