@coldacid People have attempted to make them, and I've heard they're getting closer. It's significantly more difficult to replicate something like steak than it is to replicate a ground meat, so of course there would be replacements for ground meat long before it reaches a point that it can replace something with a more complex texture.
@coldacid People are willing to eat garbage like McDonalds as it is, and that hasn't stopped people from going to good restaurants.
@Galena I don't think they're trying very hard, though. After all if they can get everyone eating their fake soy product as-is, they don't need to improve it.
