@ikocevski @Galena That's Thelema. Thelema and Satanism are completely different, unrelated religions.
@galena @ikocevski @Galena Both fit under the philosophy of Hermeticism, though Thelema is often confused for Satanism due to Alister Crowley using Christian terminology as he was a Briton who was raised in CoE, and called himself "The Beast 666" as a form of edgy humor.

Further, LeVayian Satanism is not "Satanism" but rather one type of Satanism. In reality, there are three ideological types of Satanism: The first is the worship of Satan as Deity, the Second is calling itself Satanism but rather exists as a Church of Man and only refers to itself as a worship of Satan due to Western Christendom being familiar, and the third is Atheism calling themselves Satanism to attempt to get a rise out of the religous caste.

LeVayian Satanism tends to be fitting into the second category. There are numerous "Satanic Churches" in the United States alone, all considered sisters, but all believing differing views and fitting into one of those three categories.

I suggest that you read into this, and into Esoteria, as these beliefs often stem from, or incorprate, interpretations of either Western Christendom, or other religious impacts. By doing so, you may become incredibly more wiser on your own subscribed religion.

@se7en @galena@blob.cat @ikocevski LaVeyan Satanism officially considers the first category you mentioned, worship of Satan as an actual, real deity, to be "devil worship" and not "Satanism". LaVeyan Satanists are very, very careful to avoid referring to it as Satanism, to avoid getting themselves mixed in with devil worshiping groups and accused of being associated with crimes they're uninvolved with. To them, LaVey invented the concept of "Satanism" as a religion, and only religions derived from LaVeyan Satanism can be called "Satanism". I try to avoid referring to devil worship as Satanism too, though I'll occasionally call it "Theistic Satanism" when referring to more established groups that believe in those kinds of things (eg Temple of Set) because they are an actual offshoot of LaVeyan Satanism, despite believing "Satan" (or Set, specifically) is real.

Satanists have a very long history of being grouped in with insane cultists, devil-worshipers who commit heinous crimes, and other such fringe groups, and I'd rather not grant any legitimacy whatsoever to those claims. I'm sure you've seen how easy it is for a group to be co-opted and corrupted if it doesn't constantly police itself and who it accepts and who it rejects when they use its name. When I use the term "Satanist", I am referring primarily to LaVeyan Satanism and associated religions, because I don't consider devil worshipers to be Satanists.

@Galena @galena @ikocevski Very well. I have noted this and will attempt to speak in true-er terminology in the future.
