@sandy @Charfuhrer killing innocent people is just inevitable in an armed conflict, but IMO that doesn't mean that all militaries are bad. I think the IRA was progressive because they were fighting on the side of the self-determination of an oppressed population.

@unspeakabledesire @Charfuhrer @sandy They could have done that through non violent means though, like Ghandi, or MLK, or at least through non military means like BLM (riots aren't military action even though they're violent). Basically annoy the enemy into submission. But that takes time and if you want to actually enjoy the fruits of your labor it may take too much time for your liking, since it may take several generations of annoyance to get the ruling class to relent. Do the ends justify the means, or is idealism all that matters? I take no sides in this talk.
