I wonder why the West didn't turn on Japan after WW2 in the same way that it turned on Russia (its own creation) after the end of the Cold War

@unspeakabledesire Japan is a small island nation in asia, racism and geography made them much easier to subjugate, because Russians were white and spread out over a very large territory, they were cut loose. (I could be wrong.)

@Jazzy_Butts @unspeakabledesire Russians weren't universally considered "white" at the time. As Slavs, they were often compared to Mongol or Hunnic hordes. A lot of 20th century propaganda against the Russians relied heavily on imagery implying that they were Asian rather than European.

As for why the West didn't turn on Japan after WW2, Japan was necessary for US foreign interests as a force to use against the Soviets. It's the same reason why the US started going really easy on Nazis in Germany after the first Nuremberg trial. It was all in service to US national interests. They could afford to abuse Russia because, with China obviously a lesser power and already on the US's side, the Americans felt like there was no power in the world that could seriously challenge them and, thus, saw no reason not to abuse and humiliate their conquered foe for fun and profit.

@mossakart @unspeakabledesire I know they were considered "not white" but the fact remains that they were "more" white than the Japanese were. Certain Russians could be mistook for "white", while no Japanese could be mistook for "white". It had to have been a factor.

@Jazzy_Butts @unspeakabledesire A factor in Japan being treated *better* after WW2 than Russians were treated after the cold war was the fact that the Japanese aren't considered white?

@mossakart @unspeakabledesire Is there an echo in here? Yes I am a race realist and race plays a major role in international relations.

@Jazzy_Butts @unspeakabledesire Oh. Sorry. I didn't realize you believed there was some imaginary love for the Japanese skin color that made the Americans treat them better after *literally nuking them twice* in the war.

The US occupied Japan and setup military bases in the country, but because the Soviets were close by, the US decided to treat the Japanese more kindly than they'd originally intended to so that Japan could rebuild and be turned into a military ally against the USSR. Not because their skin color had some kind of hypnotism powers white people lack.

@mossakart @unspeakabledesire It was the Russians who were treated better, fuckface, that's what was said at the beginning ya dipshit. Fuck you for making me type this, asshole.

@mossakart @unspeakabledesire What kind of insane madness is it to think that occupying someones fucking country is "treating them better" than going hands off? The US went hands off with Russia because they thought it would be possible to reconcile with them eventually because racism. That didn't work out. If Russians as a whole were as unfamiliar as asians as a whole, the "west" would have pounded them into the dirt without mercy.

@mossakart @unspeakabledesire The west would have geared up and gone in, they would have turned Russia into a vassel state like they did to Japan. They thought that wasn't necessary, because Russians were close enough familiarly that they could have been incorporated into the west. This is common sense shit. I don't believe whatever the fuck people in power say, all their papers are lies. Fact is, the whiter race was given more freedom post war than the less white race, by the white race.

@Jazzy_Butts @mossakart @unspeakabledesire The Russians weren't a loser in the end of WWII therefore had no lands taken by international interests.
They remained 100% autonomous because they fought ON the side of the allies during the end of WW2.
Japan was defeated and invaded.
A MASSIVE flaw in your argument pointed out.
