@cummies because it has a lot of things shows nowadays lack. a unique spin on a known genre in a, while simple, linear storyline. the art direction, animation and sfx design is high end, side characters have actual personalities and at least below surface level depth and the storytelling is just easy on the brain. it's a good show

@menthol6 you saw personality in the side characters? theyre all 1/2 dimensional cannon fodder and the writer actively avoids developing them (eg when rebecca's brother dies, shes just removed from the show for a while instead of exploring how she deals with it, then shes back to normal). more episodes probably would have helped with this, since they timeskip any moment they had an opportunity to show actual character development and replacing it with character 180s

cyberpsychosis is also ableist af, but this is a problem with the universe in general

the pacing was unbearable and was what made me stop watching

@cummies it's a 10 episodes show, you're asking for things not even the average 12 episodes can do justice. wdym by cyberpsychosis being ableist?

@menthol6 it was a choice to do it as 10 episodes, and i cant rate it based on a hypothetical 12 or 24 episode adaptation

also yea cyberpsychosis in the tv show and original tabletop is portrayed as "the loss of humanity from using too many prosthetics"

in the video game its when people get psychosis from overwork and living under capitalism, so you're literally just killing the mentally ill
