Can any westerners help me understand something (Americentric viewpoints preferably but others are welcome as well) : Are half siblings from the same mother considered to be more valid than half siblings from different mothers? Like if you have a half sibling, and you have the same mom, people don't think anything of it and consider you siblings. But when you're half siblings with different mothers, people don't actually consider you to be siblings, although when pressed they will admit you're technically siblings.

@Jazzy_Butts To me, depends on where they grew up. Like, I have a half sister I didn't even know about till I was 20, she's not a sibling. If y'all grow up together, you're siblings regardless of which parent you share.

So like, If your mom bites it, your dad gets remarried, and his new wife shits out a little one, if you're there while the little one is growing up, you're siblings. If you're already moved out of the house when they're born, you ain't.

@Sudodeme Yea so it's more social than biological, I feel that way too. But I still call my siblings who I only saw a few times my siblings, I still consider them just as important as the siblings I grew up with even though we don't talk as much or don't know as much about each other.
