I'm probably remembering wrong, but do cashiers sit down in Canada or the US?

Here in Latin America, all cashiers have a chair to sit down on. But I can't remember if it was the same in Canada... seems like a lot of pointless suffering if that's the case...

@Okymir In America (usa) the boss is allowed to sit, anyone else caught sitting is generally looked down upon, the culture results in many people "looking busy" even when they don't have the mental energy to actually do anything, just don't sit down. Some bosses are nice, but generally no, a cashier is normally standing "happily" waiting for the customer to come check out and pay for their sale.
