I am so tired of intellectuals inability to discern what questions are pure garbage and what questions lead to a proper understanding of the world. AI is my favorite example.
Let me preface with a few simple assumptions.
Assumption one:
Our entire society has long ago recognized and accepted that specialization of roles lead to increased effectiveness. Whenever you have one person who specializes on a proffesion, he can reach much better result then 10 people who try to do 10 things each.
Assumption two:
You cannot judge specialized people based on results of other specializations. Let's take 2 specialized people. A smith and a baker. You can judge how good smith a smith is based on how sharp and robust his weapons are. You can also judge how good a baker is based on how good the food he made is. But you cannot judge if a baker is smarter then a smith by eating a sword.
Assumption three:
Even people without talent can eventually learn things they lack talent for, but it will take more time.
So, would ANYONE explain to me why do phylosophers keep on saying that computers are dumb because they don't cry? Computers can not only calculate million times faster then we can (supporting assumption one), but they can also already do things we thoght they will never be able to do better then we can. For instance, the recognition of faked emotions. (1) In short, Computers are seriously specialized, but there is no fucking way, we can call humans inteligent and computer unable to learn at the same time...
