At risk of sounding grim.
The cemeteries are full of people who didn’t think it could happen to them.
We’ve just had a political purge, and when have we seen this kind of thing before?
Ever looked back at the terrible events in history and thought, “how could they not see this coming?” why didn’t the Jews catch wind of what was coming and escape? Because they didn’t think it could happen here.
It can happen anywhere.
I’m not saying anything beyond what happened will happen, but I am saying it’s time to start paying attention and maybe be prepared.
Censorship is authoritarian. Telling people they have to close their businesses, give up their income and livelihood in order to protect everyone from an invisible threat is Communism. Printing paper money to help some of them and deny others is Socialism.
But no one sees it that way. Burn the books.

That is not the worst thing...
Many people are terrified of not conforming. Not only will they see it comming, but they will look around them and see people smiling, like nothing is happening. So they keep smiling as well not knowing if they are alone, or if everyone knows...
Stupid social instincts make everyone dumber...
