@tfmonkey hot take, but I like this more https://pca.st/episode/15226376-2ef1-48ae-b2ff-7c43e8badf38
the finance industry is a fucking cancer that's taken over the entire economy, thanks to the fed, Greenspan, and dipshit normies begging to be saved
@whatagainst the stock market isn't the economy. It's just a mechanism for companies to raise capital in lieu of loans.
What would you replace the finance industry with?
@tfmonkey @whatagainst
My question is more like:
Why would you preffer so sell off your rights to a growing company rather then taking a loan that can be eventually paid off?
@LukeAlmighty @whatagainst selling stock in your company is like kickstarter/indiegogo. You're saying "you'll be a partial owner but if I don't make a profit, you won't get your share, but if I do, we'll share the profits".
when you take out a loan, the bank expects repayment with interest regardless of if your company is up, down or sideways.
Being able to sell and trade stock benefits the little guy. Without it you'd be at the mercy of the bankers alone.
@tfmonkey @whatagainst
Thanks
I get the basics. It jist seems to wasteful to throw away the ownership, but I guess the decision is different when you really have to decide, and your future depends on it.
@tfmonkey @whatagainst
I am not trying to "play smart" here. It was a genuine question and you have answered already.
