Alright, let me explain the framing.
Step one: She cheated on him.
Step two: She was a bit torn about it, and wanted to "sneakily" gage his reaction to the information.
When she was thinking about "I already cheated on you, what will you do", he reacted with saying he would also cheat. Rest of that sentence was irrelevant.

Well, obviously. But everyone gets that one. I jsut wanted to explain why she was in such a shock from a genuine compliment.
But the point of his response is that he wouldn't. Because the person asking him is literally a younger version of her mother.
