Hey @tfmonkey I showed a dude your Badger appearance (not sargon, another dude) and he says you seemed to be too much into the women hating angle. The following is my response trying to clarify your position based on everything I gathered from your various streams. Please let me know if I misrepresented your argument.
@ButtWorldsMan that wall of text won't zoom on mastodon, but I actively pushed back when Brian (the host, not me) blamed women.
So for your friend to claim I hate women or blame women shows that they didn't listen to anything I said, and they probably didn't read what you wrote to them either.
@tfmonkey you're giving them a lot less credit than I would. He's an open minded sort.
@ButtWorldsMan Okay I was able to read your comment via the pastebin. That's a fair summary of my standard. I would have thrown in the fact that freedom and responsibility (or authority and responsible) go together, and cannot be separated without breaking the spontaneous natural order of relationships.
@tfmonkey btw while I don't necessarily disagree with the thrust and intention of your workout advice to get people into the habit of exercise, as a gymbro I wish you'd add one caveat to your advice, which is that soreness needs to become and expectation. Start simple and condition your body for regular exercise but you're going to need to go hard eventually. If you don't feel sore then you're not doing anything. There will be no gains.
@tfmonkey @ButtWorldsMan
I have to confirm this one
I started exercising this year, and it is amazing. But the thing that kept me from lifting a single weight for over 20 years was exactly this gim culture.
When you are trying to get in shape, but the first thing you hear is 1h regime 4 time a week, it definitelly didn't feel even worth any derious consideration.
@LukeAlmighty @tfmonkey also I noticed some parallels with what feminists were whining about years ago. Remember around the time the male scientist wearing a naughty shirt got shit on and one rationale was that it would keep women from joining STEM?
If you avoided improving your physique and fitness because of some perceived culture around fitness, it shows you're weak, and I don't mean physically. Stop caring about others and do it for you.

@ButtWorldsMan @tfmonkey
No, you missed my point completelly.
I did not avoid it because I thought the culture was toxic, but as a direct result of that culture.
Immagine you are selling vehicles. You have a young boy who needs to go to a shop and back 2 times a week for a small bag of food. But whenever he asks you, you start offering him lamborgini, helicopter and a fighter jet saying that buying anything less gives him no result.
That boy needs a bike, and can only afford a bike. If you say that anything short of a fighter jet is useless, why would he not trust you? You are a shop keeper missing on a good bike sale after all.
@ButtWorldsMan @tfmonkey
Not to mention, that whenever I did go to the jim, there was always... ALWAYS a loud music playing, making it impossible to enjoy even that option.
But that is a different can of worms.
@LukeAlmighty @tfmonkey look into calisthenics, resistance bands, and if you can fit them in, dumbbells.
I haven't been to a gym for over a year.
@LukeAlmighty @tfmonkey sounds like a salesman problem. You were talking to the wrong people. A good trainer would work around your limits, not force you to meet their limits.
@LukeAlmighty @tfmonkey
>grim culture
Nah bruh it's about context. Working out implies weight lifting. TFM then contextualized his advice as something for weight loss, thus making gaining muscle mass irrelevant to the conversation. Simple as.
