I don't know what is more sad. That everyone in tech knows this shit is happening, or the fact that even most people from the tech are unwilling to just say fuck this shit and stop using facebook at all.

The problem is, that even people who do understand IT tend to be unbelievably naive, and do not seem to understand just how important it can be if Facebook/Google cen de-person you or even just remove/alter few lines of your communication...

I believe that the core belief that drives this ignorance is that people believe they aren't important enough to be targeted.
What they do not understand is, that even if they can be manipulated to do a 1 dollar purchuse, that is 3 billion dollars in sales immediatelly for Facebook. The scale of "not important" masses is unimaginable for them.
Most people have no idea how marketing works and how it has changed the culure, who rules over us and what have you. This is why they are so careless with data they are emitting. That facebook is acting creepy again is just the cherry on the top. It has already been leaked out, that they sometimes conduct social experiments. One of them consisting of putting conservatives into articial filter bubbles.
Another funfact about facebook: Most people joined radical user groups, because facebook itself has recommended them.
