i know this will sound weird, but I believe it's better to see the need to money first hand, and give the money directly.
While I know my 100 dollars here will do nothing to 100 dollars in africa, but at least I know how it's spent and see the lives improved.
On the other hand, whenever I hear the words "We're donating" I feel ashamed by the company even before they finish the sentance.
I don't care if it's red cross or ADL. Just raise the wages of some grunts you selfish fucks. That is the social contract right? They make you millions, so they recieve a part back. Throwing that part away is a betrayal at the basic level.
@LukeAlmighty @coolboymew @SADIDAS I totally agree. That has been my frustration with so many of these organizations. And also the stuff you see on gofundme, which is effectively unvetted ahead of time with no follow up either. Almost every time one of those "surgery is $10000" goes trending and donations pile in, watch the amount requested get silently updated to $25000, $50000.
Pick a local charity or church with people you can personally vouch for. Or the best online option is donorsee.com

Fuck... I do not even believe that when I whink about it. When I help someone become self-sustaining or even productive in here, they do make much more good throughout their life then any saved african life ever could.
