Its fun enough to play through. But overall I absolutely hated it because of the plot and worldbuilding. The writing makes fallout 4 seem like a masterpiece. And here I was expecting New Vegas 2...
Thankfully I played in on xbox gamespass so didn't really waste any money on it.
Basically the plot rail roads you into the theme of "trust the science! There is no need to be pragmatic or realistic as long as scientists are in charge!!!"
@Publius just been playing it a couple hours, I don't understand anything.
Why do they look like they've been through a nuclear explosion, there's no explanation for this, surely if corporations were in charge everything would be super clean and sterile not scruffy as fuck.
Makes no sense.
Basically all the capable people (including you) were on a separate ship that was delayed by about 50 years. The only ship that landed was the ship full of mid wit grunts and incompetent Middle managers.
So by the time that your ship arrived with the competent people. The middle management mid wits had fucked everything up so badly that there is a famine, people are getting really bad illnesses due to malnutrition, infrastructure is crumbling.
@Publius oh right that's why everyone appears to be retarded then.
They could have explained this better at the start, it just comes off as a really cheap fallout knockoff otherwise, even though its done by the creators of new vegas
@Publius @coolhandjames
That would explain a lot...
The moment I saw that that "corporations bad" was one of main themes of the game, I didn't even bother taking a 2nd look at it.
@Publius @coolhandjames
So, a total insult to every decision-based game ever made. Got it.
@Publius @coolhandjames
Oh... The same guy who wrote new vegas got his hands on Jedi Fallen order? That would explain why that was the only bearable star wars game in the last decade.
@Publius @LukeAlmighty oh man, just deleted it, that's very gay
Atleast you didn't buy it for £25~50 thanks to gamespass.
@Publius @LukeAlmighty yeah there is that
Felt so low effort. It was just like "hur dur this sort of looks like fallout, plz like"
@LukeAlmighty @coolhandjames
The marketing even comparing it to new Vegas is insulting. New Vegas had a morally grey, unbiased ending where you could choose three diverse ideologies and based on your actions and karma level make the best or worst of those ideologues once implemented.
The ending of Outer worlds is either
Good ending: Establish neo-liberalism with a ruling elite class of scientists and Doctors.
Or bad ending: The corporations cause a famine, everyone dies.
